The backbone of your online presence.

Your website is the backbone of your online presence. It sets the tone for all your digital marketing efforts.

If you have a crappy website, and you drive traffic to it – it’s only going to end in frustrated customers, or lost sales.

A great website builds trust and credibility with your ideal customer.

See how we make great websites

Most websites suck.
We make sure yours doesn’t.

Your website doesn’t have to suck, and it doesn’t have to be like your competitors. Your website should be a reflection of you – being different actually means thinking different, and we’ll show you how.

Our Approach to Web Design

Three stages to website success.

When it comes to web design, the devil is in the details. If you don’t have an adequate plan coming in, you’ll come out with a sucky website that doesn’t actually push your business forward.

Our approach is broken into three steps:-

  • The Roadmap – The strategic plan behind a successful website
  • Project Delivery – The design, development & launch of the website
  • Growth – Once the website has launched, it’s time for it to grow.

— Step One —

The Web Design Roadmap

Successful websites start here.

The first step to building a great website is understanding where we are & where we’re going. The Web Design Roadmap is an essential part of all projects we undertake at Strong Digital.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a site map?

A site map is the overarching view of the website structure, it helps us to see where content should live and what structure should be followed when building the website out.

What is responsive web design?

Responsive Web Design is the method taken to design and build websites so that they are optimised to be viewable across a range of different devices – including mobile phones, tablets & laptop / desktop computers of different sizes.

This approach to web design is a given nowadays – without Responsive Web Design your users wouldn’t be having a good time – and your rankings on Google would be impacted as well. As Google prioritises mobile experience.

What is a low-fidelity wireframe?

A low-fidelity (or lo-fi) wireframe helps us envisage the layout and content flow for a web design. It’s more like a birds-eye view of the website, allowing us to easily understand where information should go to ensure that your website is not only easy-to-use but delivers on your goals.

What is a mood board?

A website mood board is a visual representation of how the website could look and feel. This is generally taken from a range of different inspirational sources that closely align with project goals, audience personas and brand.

We wrote a blog article on brand mood boards and how they help us shape a brand identity. Website mood boards are very similar – and help us shape the look and feel of the website.

What is an audience persona?

An audience persona is a fictionalised person that is based on your target audience. It helps us identify their needs, their goals and their concerns. This helps us with the decision making process to ensure we build something that hits the mark.

Where is the website hosted?

We host websites on the cloud using infrastructure from a couple of cloud providers (including Vultr & AWS). We utilise Australian data centres to ensure that your website is fast and able to be served quickly locally.

Can I use my own web host?

You certainly can, and we can give you some recommendations.

When you invest a significant amount of money into a new website, you’ll be wanting to make sure it is kept up to date and maintained. If you don’t, it’s like buying a brand new car and then never getting it serviced!

We recommend all our clients going onto one of our website care plans to ensure we can manage your website, host it and keep it up to date & secure.

Why is there so much jargon?

Just like anything, web design is a very specialised industry. One of the things that we always try to do is use plain-speak as much as possible. However time to time, it is good to know some industry jargon, read about the top 10 we recommend knowing.

Will my site rank in Google?

As part of our build process we do some standard Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) work to ensure the website is structured well for search engines. We also submit it to major search engines, like Google, so that it can start to be indexed within their search results.

However, there is no guarantee that will help you rank highly for any certain keywords or search phrases. Highly competitive search terms can require additional resources and effort to be able to rank highly.

SEO is also not something that can be set and forget, Google notoriously changes their algorithm several times a year. Staying on top of SEO is an on-going task.

We’d recommend engaging some of our on-going SEO services to help maximise your potential ranking.

How long does a website take to build?

This is quite variable depending on a number of different factors. However most websites take 8 – 12 weeks to build. By completing a website roadmap, we’re able to confirm with you some specifics around how long it will take.

How much does a website cost?

Just like anything – you get what you pay for. You’ll be able to find low cost options, and depending on your stage in business – these might be suitable for you.

Web Design cost can be variable and can depend on a variety of factors. Our Web Design Roadmap process, can help to uncover what your business truly needs from a successful website – but as an average most small business websites start from $8,000 + GST. Larger or more complex websites, including Ecommerce, you could expect to be looking at a start cost of $15,000 + GST.

Do you do payment plans?

Yes! We understand that businesses don’t necessarily have the upfront capital to invest in a new website, but have the cash flow on-going. There are additional costs involved, but this is a great way of growing your business without the upfront burden.

Do you build websites for start-ups or new businesses?

Not generally – we normally work with established small businesses.

We are firm believers that when you are starting a business, you don’t know everything you need to know yet – it takes time to figure out your target audience, your business model and make sure that your business is viable. From our perspective, it just does not make sense to invest in a premium custom web design at this stage – you’d be better off going for entry level options, just so you can get your foot in the door.

Established small businesses have usually figured out all of this, they’ve got revenue coming in and they can justify allocating more of their budget towards their marketing & growth.

That being said – not every business is the same, so on occasion we will work with new businesses, just reach out and ask!

Do you just work with Brisbane small businesses?

The great thing about the digital world – we can work with anyone, anywhere!

While we do primarily do web design for Brisbane small businesses – we’ve worked with clients across Australia. We’ve got clients in Melbourne, Sydney, Bathurst, Cairns, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast, Newcastle & Tasmania.

We’ve even worked with some clients internationally – having worked with clients in the USA & UK. With some current clients in California and Atlanta.

How involved do I need to be?

We try to minimise the amount of time required from you in order to get your website produced. We’re here to guide you through and tell you exactly what we need from you for the project to be successful.

Our Web Design Roadmap process requires a bit more of your attention than the website design & build. This is to ensure we can align our expectations, and put together a plan that is going to work well for your website.
